Ummm... errrr...

Read this, and came across the following comment....

Heightened religious, ethnic and political violence has claimed at least 10,000 lives since President Olusegun Obasanjo's 1999 election ended 15 years of repressive military juntas.

Then read the second to next paragraph down...

Judges ordered her buried up to her neck in sand and stoned.

I dunno, but call me crazy... perhaps the repressive military juntas weren't so bad as compared to this repressive islamic junta. Did the military juntas bury people up to their neck and stone them to death?

Was browsing the Internet Infidels message boards...

And came across this comment:
Tonight I am cursed with insomnia (brought on by an unholy mixture of pizza and Pepsi), and as an aid to sleep I decided to read The Silmarillion again. After finishing Ainulindalë I realised that it is a much more satisfactory creation myth than the one suggested in The Bible.

Hmm, someone might want to tell this fellow that Tolkein was a devout Catholic and he prefigured Catholic theology in his works. What the guy is unknowingly affirming here is Catholic Christian theology.

What a hoot. :)

Speaking of exercise...

I know, this is rather morbid, but given the fact that 30 people a year die from accidents sustained in/on elevators and escalators, why not consider taking the stairs if you can?

Imagine this...

We wouldn't have to worry about whether or not video games tend to make children grow up with more violent tendencies, if we as parents, told children to get off their increasingly plump posteriors and go play outside. Simple enough, right?

We had ColecoVision growing up. We had the Atari adaptor for it too. I could play everything from the Smurfs, Venture to Donkey Kong. Man, I love Donkey Kong. But I remember distinctly the 30 minute a day television rule my parents had for me when I was little. I could either watch one cartoon, or play video games for 30 minutes and that was it. I was either to do my homework, or go outside and play with my friends. Whether we reinacted that days cartoon episode of G.I. Joe with our own G.I. Joe figures, biked around the block or played stickball was up to us. It was left up to our own whims and imagination. Sure, I was allowed to watch more television on the weekend, but my weekends were devoted to playing little league baseball, who had time to waste watching television?

Am I just getting to be an old geezer? Reminiscing about the "good 'ol days"?

Let us pray for the repose of the soul of John Geoghan...

Perhaps asking for people to pray for this defrocked priest, convicted of molesting children, may raise the ire of people, but in my opinion, the soul of this man needs our prayers. May we pray for him, that he repented of his crimes against children of God. Likewise, let us also take this time to pray for his victims, that God may heal the pain of the trials they had to endure, and that the circumstances of John Geoghan's death do not weigh on their conscience.

What is it with...

... people's unhealthy fascination with pain and suffering?

A scary statistic...

1 in 37 U.S. adults have been in prison...

Yikes!

Can you say...

Are you people idiots?!?!

It's a rhetorical question, the answer is obviously: Yes.

It ain't your grandpa's Democratic party no more...

Expect a Catholic Exodus (from the Democratic party)

But it is unlikely to be possible any longer to ignore the fact that Church doctrine is incompatible with the policies of the party of the left.

You got that right.

If only the Anglican Leaders in the United States...

... read this article in First Things.

When priests in such networks attain leadership posts, the health and morale of the presbyterate itself are at stake.

Not only that, the health and morale of the congregation is at stake as well.

Same-Sex "Marriage": Should America Allow "Gay Rights" Activists to Cross The Last Cultural Frontier?

A pagan asked me today...

If Christianity is not about fire insurance, then what is it about?

I replied:
Life insurance.

John 11:25-26 (RSV)
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.
